Football team supported in Mogong, Cameroon

Cameroon

Support for the Mogong Football Federation

Tennis for Africa has received support from Roma Cares on more than one occasion and in various ways over the years. To support the Mogong Football Federation, it donated official AS Roma kits from previous seasons to the children attending the football school.

The delivery was a joyful moment in Mogong, where football is the most popular sport, including in the country’s rural and poorer areas. Donations were distributed in the villages around Mogong: Gawel, Damai, Mayel-Ngaima, Mouloum, Moutourwa, Mouda and Maroua.

Students at the Martiri Inhassunge school in Quelimane, Mozambique

Quelimane · Mozambique

Support for the “Martiri Inhassunge” school project

This project was launched in 1986 by Father Antonio Triggiante, the school’s founder. Year after year, educational activities have expanded, providing pupils with a free meal, ensuring teachers are paid, covering school maintenance costs and supplying educational materials. The school serves around 4,000 young people, most of whom are not self-sufficient.

Near the school, an Arts and Crafts training workshop was established, teaching the basics needed to pursue work as a carpenter or farmer, as well as a nursery school alongside a centre assisting people with disabilities and the elderly.

The school is funded partly through state contributions (around 30%), with the remainder coming from private donations. Over the years, Tennis for Africa has provided targeted support, including the purchase of school desks, the delivery of T-shirts and the development of recreational activities.

Station Hill tennis school in Freetown, Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone

Support for the Station Hill community - Freetown

We supported a tennis school by sending sports equipment and clothing for boys and girls from the most vulnerable families.

They are primary school and early secondary school students who have shown great interest in the sport. They often play barefoot, in worn clothing, using old balls and rackets with broken strings. The two tennis courts are in need of repair.

Over time, Tennis for Africa has sent several boxes containing rackets, sportswear and balls.

Cooperation programme supporting young people through the development of sport

The cooperation project, launched in Tanzania in 2011, aims to promote sport among young people through football and tennis. Sport is a universal language that helps educate young people, promote social inclusion, fight poverty and overcome discrimination.

The project is aimed at communities supported by our non-profit organisation in the capital Dar es Salaam, with particular attention to children from the most vulnerable families and children with disabilities.

  • supply of sportswear and technical equipment (footballs, tennis balls and rackets);
  • promotion of training courses for instructors;
  • promotion of training placements for the most talented young people;
  • organisation of Tennis Camps in Italy.
School and activities of the Khwisero Sports Academy in Khwisero County, Kenya

Khwisero County · Kenya

Support for the tennis school in Khwisero County

In Kenya, the Ministry of Education reports that most students leave school because of a lack of funds. The Khwisero Sports Academy began operating in May 2016 to address local needs.

The academy provides a platform connecting pupils with secondary schools, combining academic support with sporting activities, particularly tennis and football.

Tennis for Africa has been involved in this project since 2017 by sending T-shirts, rackets, balls and mini-tennis nets. In 2025 it also contributed to the construction of a tennis court.
