The
8th edition of Tennis Day for
Africa has closed succesfully
to benefit the humanitarian
projects in Africa coordinated by Community
of Sant'Egidio. 2000
spectators came to Due Ponti
Sporting Club along the day for
assisitng the practice of
important players, like Maria
Sharapova (2), Elena
Dementieva (5), Elena Bovina (14),
Svetlana Kuznetsova (7), Nathalie
Dechy (15) Tatiana Golovin (18),
Mary Pierce, Martina Navratilova,
the Italian Tathiana Garbin
and Maria Elena Camerin, and many
others... .
Most
of players were glad to sign
autographes for specators and to
donate personal signed memorabilia
to Tennis for Africa. The schedule
also included one exhibition
with the Italian Parliament tennis
Team, represented by Valerio
Calzolaio (DS) and Gianantonio
Arnoldi (FI), with the former
player Diego Nargiso. The same
player also had a short exhibition
with the Italian wheel chair
champions Giuseppe Polidori and
Raffaele Antoni.
The
Charity Event with ATP players of
May 1 2005
David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco,
Younes El Aynaoui, Bob and Mike
Bryan, Wayne Black and Kevin
Ullyett were the participants of
the Tennis for Africa day at the
Club Due Ponti in Rome on Sunday,
May 1 for supporting a school food
program in Quelimane (Mozambique).
With 4000 Euro collected, 260
children will receive the meal for
1 year. |
