Tennis for Africa Charity Tournament at Raes Creek Club in Augusta - Georgia  JULY 5/10, 2005

The charity tournament had the participation of  60 people and received the attention of the local newspaper and the local cable television  (Comcast Cable), broadcasting 30 second spots promoting the charity event throughout the tournament  week.

The Club established a committee of ladies with the goal to promote “silent auction”.  During the week   the group of ladies have also successfully gotten local restaurants to donate food for the tournament participants.

The Club has also organized  a collection of  tennis items from members to ship to African children. A wide report with picutres will be available soon.

Tennis for Africa Twinning Program at Raes Creek Club in Augusta - USA.
The Raes Creek Club in Augusta has agreed to take part in the Tennis for Africa Twinning program, organizing a charity event by this year.
The club, founded in 2001 by Richard Cutler, provides hard and clay courts and future grass surfaces. The club is growing year by year on a beautifully landscape with  two 100,000 gallon pools between the famous Raes Creek and  sport bar and restaurant.
The club organizes a 25.000 US $ Challenger Tournament in April every year.

The Project:
Tennis for Africa has identified some schools inside Africa in condition to establish a twinning program based on the direct contacts with a series of North American and European sport clubs.
The role of Tennis for Africa:
Tennis for Africa has the role to coordinate the activities and partnerships among participants, to make sure the provision of updated information and pictures from the beneficiaries, to control the provision of aids from the sport clubs outside Africa.
Expected results:
# sport for every children in African schools with the provision of sport equipment
# training of African teachers
# support for building new sport infrastructures inside schools
# adoption at distance of a group of children
