Gianluca Pozzi Day for Africa took place in Rome last
October 2 2002.
The 48th

tennis Clubs in the city and offered his free collaboration
for playing with young players of the club tennis schools.
The local tennis teachers organized tennis sessions for
offering to all children the enjoiment to play tennis with
the Italian champion.
The charity
day was not only full of good tennis: the lucky young
players had the plaesure to make some questions to Pozzi who
was glad to give useful suggestions for playing tennis, for
the practice and for approaching the future
professional activity.
The charity
day was organized by Tennis for Africa in the
framework of the Italian project "Growing through
the Sport" sponsored by the Province of Rome in order
to raise funds to support the Raoul Follerau Hospital
in Guinea Bissau. The hospital is assisted by the Italian
Community of "Sant'Egidio".
The fund
raising was organized through the selling of new tennis
rackets donated by "Tennis Italiano"
Magazine and a lottery with interesting prizes like
the racquets of Gianluca Pozzi, Karim Alami and the
shoes of Diego Nargiso, finalist of the International
of Sicilia, and Andrea Gaudenzi.
