The Association Tennis forAfrica Onlus carried out the charity event "Parliamentarians for Africa" at the Centro Sportivo San Donato Milanese (Northern Italy) in June 19, 2010.
This initiative was realized in the framework of a two-years agreement with the City Administration of San Donato Milanese,
with the aim to promote the fundraising for two projects of social and humanitarian importance in Africa.
The event has required considerable organizational investment to make available two new permanent tennis courts this year,
with the goal to optimize the revenue in the second year. Among the parliamentarians MP Pierluigi Mantini, the current captain of the Parlamentarian national
tennis team, played one long set in double and the former MP Gianantonio Arnoldi, despite a shoulder injury,
attended the opening cerimony. The charity event had the participation of the best former players of Northern Italy,
like Pedro Rebolledo (CHI), best ranking 26th in 1982, Simone Colombo, best ranking 60th in 1986, Laura Golarsa, best ranking 39th in 1990,
with the best 2010 under 15 Filippo Baldi, the under 12 Alessia D'Auria and Vittoria Beolchi and the under 15 Giulio Beatrice.
Romano Grillotti, the famous Italian umpire, arbitrated all sets of the event. Fabio Della Vida gave his support to involve the young players following the
defection of Luca Bottazzi. The fundraising was devoted to the project "DREAM (Drug Resource Enhancement Against AIDS and Malnutrition) of the
Community of Sant'Egidio and to the Shisong Cardiac Centre in Cameroon - Associazione Cuore Fratello. The major of the Municipality,
Mario Dompè, attended the closing cerimony.
