The Italian former player Silvia Farina, best ranking 11 in
2002, winner of 12 WTA tournaments, was the testimonial of Tarquinia Open (Italy), an event
carried out with the attention to Africa, with the goal to
raise funds in the framework of the Sport for Life project
in Freetown.
The Italian forme player
attended the final, won by Vincenzo Santopadre, for meeting the
spectators and playing with the children of the local tennis
school, just before the beginning of the final of the
tournament on August 30 2009.
The open
was organized under the umbrella of the Italian Tennis
Federation and aimed at giving a support to the "Sport
for Life" project in Freetown - Sierra Leone.
During the week of the
tournament some initiatives were promoted for reinforcing
the fundraising: a stringing machine will be acquired for
the tennis school in Freetown.
